Where are we heading??
Read bout the new N Series 3G phone Nokia going to release this year, the N70, N90 and N91.
Look at the brief specs:
N70: 2 megapixel camera, with video/photo editing and printing software and blah blah blah…
N90: 2 megapixel camera CARL ZEISS rotating lens, with image/video editor, movie director and priting software and blah blah blah….
N91: 4GB memory for mp3 player and blah blah blah.
Despite all the new features, the N90 looks exactly like a video cam with phone functions and N91 looks like a ipod with phone functions.
Contrary with what the phone maker’s traditional approach of cramping video/camera/mp3 player functions into a phone, it looks to me that Nokia is making a videocam/mp3 player with phone functions.
Therefore, it started to set me thinking, when phone maker started to take this approach, what are the rest of the manufacturer going to do next? Are we expecting a new Apple Ipod-phone? or the Iriver media player-phone?? Or even a Sony camera+mp3 walkman+pda+phone? (dont forget Sony was also in phone and pda business before) And dont forget the biggest trend now, smartphone. I am not talking bout a phone with simple calendar/todo features but a real smartphone like Treo, O2 XDA kind of full feature, smart device.
Where are we heading from here? Are we going towards a full integrated gadget with every possible functions? And there is no more phone/camera/pda/mp3 player manufacturer anymore since everybody is going towards a fully integrated device?
What do u think??
